Students will become\nproficient at these basic skills.  \nCourse Description\nStudents in this course will be re-introduced to the various types\nof rescue equipment. Students will be trained in; mechanical advantage systems\, safeties\,\nbasic ascending\, basic rappelling technique and tie-offs with a rappel rack\, rope changes\,\nand one person rescue. The students will perform a low angle raise and lower evolution\nsimulating patient transport on embankments. Most of the program is hands-on and time\nis allotted for practice in order to build proficiency.  \nPrerequisites\n\nRope/High Angle Rescue 1 (RORE)\n\nSpecial Conditions\nNONE \nStudent Equipment / Supply Needs\n\nPen/Pencil\nNotebook\nHelmet with chinstrap\, clean leather gloves\, work or hiking type boots. Turnout gear is NOT acceptable.\nStudents may supply additional personal or department owned equipment\, but all such equipment is subject to inspection and/or rejection by the instructors prior to use.

The primary focus of this course is to give the student a thorough knowledge of flashover and pre-flashover conditions. \nCourse Description\nThe goal of this course is to teach the student how to deal with these conditions in a safe and productive manner. The ultimate outcome is to equip firefighters with the skills to avoid becoming victims of this violent phenomenon. Live fire evolutions conclude this course. \nPrerequisites\n\n\nYou must have one or more of the following \n\nFirefighter I\nELIF\nSBS\n\n\n\nNOTE: Copies of pre-requisite certificates must be sent in with registration or brought with day of class. Additionally\, We are only able to accept 12 participants per class on both Saturday and Sunday. Spots are filled on a first-come\, first-served basis. To secure your place\, please complete the online registration and await a confirmation email from the committee chairman. Be sure all information submitted is accurate to secure your spot. \nMinimum Age Requirement\n18 years as of first day of class. \nSpecial Conditions\nAll provisions of the State Fire Academy Live Burn Policy in effect on the date of the class must be complied with fully. Minimum age for students in this class is eighteen years as of the first day of class. All students must successfully participate as a member of an interior attack team by attacking an interior fire as a condition of receiving a State Fire Academy certificate for this course. \nStudent Equipment / Supply Needs\n\nPen/Pencil\nNotebook\nFirefighter’s Handbook (must remain in possession of the student throughout the entire course)\nSupported reference material and skill book (Must remain in possession of student at the end of the program)\nHelmet\, gloves\, turnout coat\, turnout pants\, boots\, protective hood\, and protective eyewear (safety glasses or goggles)\nSCBA (self contained breathing apparatus) AND spare cylinder.
