Course Goal

The goal of this course is to provide first responders with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and effectively respond to hoarding situations, understanding the associated risks and developing appropriate safety procedures.

Course Description

Hoarder homes pose risks to responding firefighter, EMS and law enforcement personnel. This program covers the problem of hoarding, types of hoarding, and issues involved with hoarding conditions. Emergency response personnel can be exposed to biological hazards as well as physical hazards. First Responders will be able to use the information to develop procedures to protect themselves when encountering a hoarding situation.

Prerequisites

• Entry Level-Interior Fire Fighter (ELIF) or Essentials of Fire Fighting (EBM)
