Course Goal
The goal of this course is to provide firefighters with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively respond to chimney fires and other heating-related emergencies, focusing on the unique challenges presented by these situations.
Course Description
Chimney fires and other heating unit related emergencies are an unusual problem for fire departments. As in any emergency, size up of the situation is key. These types of fires are challenging due to the diversity of systems in use. The focus of the class will be on chimney fires and wood burning systems. Other heating units will also be addressed to enhance students’ general knowledge of various types of heating systems.
Prerequisites
- Entry Level-Interior Fire Fighter (ELIF) or Essentials of Fire Fighting (EBM)
